Website

Here are just a few examples of illustrators web pages.
Have a look at the different techniques used and the format.

Sarah Dawes makes it clear of her name and the links next to the title. she always presents A section about her and her work. Which helps people know bout her work before seeing it.
Colour scheme is soft and you can see her style of work reflected in her layout.

Mr ward has more detail and substance in his layout. Lots of bright colour, that all work well together.

This is more of a graphical layout showing strong lines and block colour, all representing his cartoons and illustrations. with a straight forward link system down the left hand side.

Keegan has an unusual layout compared to the others. It doesn't have a block structure and has lots of negative space. I like this layout because of the fact it standout from all the others. He makes it clear that he is an Illustrator by highlighting it in a different colour. and lists the several links he has to offer all in one place.

This website is to more of my liking. Joanne has clearly illustrated a strong piece for her center point of interest. Its upfront and shows her her talent. She uses the homepage to wow people with a big statement piece with a bold boarder around it. almost framing her work but on a computer screen.
the interaction of the lady bird is fun. The simple typeface ties it all in, giving the basic information that is needed.

Kath has gone out of her way to create her own logos to create links for certain categories. She has also made the colour scheme subtle so it doesn't out do the illustrations. Over all a clear basic twist on a web page.

Creating a web page is something i have never done! I've always knew i would have to do one, but it all over whelms me with how create web pages have become! The web is the easiest way to see all your work,a and even get you work. So its important to do it well.

Step one.
Basic outlines of what i want on my web page.

to start off with i done rough sketches of what should be on a home page and where each link will lead me.

1.name
2. interests
3. Illustrations
4.contact page
5.blog/face book/twitter
6.about

Using the basic outline of links and the format of the page, iv taken used illustration to try construct a Homepage.

Each thought bubble has a link to each page. making the home page clear, simple and easy to navigate around.
All the thought bubbles interlink and goes round in one big circle. a circle of ME.

Im finding this brief really hard. I am not the best on Photoshop and i have no experience of web design one bit. So sticking to what i know of websites iv been on, i will eventually have a homepage that represents my work and all the back up links to get me going.

It is important to keep trying out new ideas for a web page to make sure you have the correct one to represent you.
Here are a few successful ideas.

I think its important to have a main background, that can be pasted onto each link of your website. i think it helps the viewer to understand that its still' Lauren Pereira's Illustrations' and they've not been linked to another page.
this will be pasted one ac of my links to hold the same theme throughout my website.

The next things is to, introduce links and sections into the design. I've decided to use a simple way and create columns. Separating them from any other links.
Once the cursor is hovering over these columns they will highlight in white to let them know there is a link to that specific page.
Not only does it do the job. It makes the homepage organised and easy to move around.

adding more of my illustrations to the page ....

Final Product. I like the simplicity of my website design. As a computer user i find it so annoying when you cant find what your looking for on a page. So it was important to me to have a clear and less complicated web page.
Let the Illustrations do the talking.

Here is another design idea. There's a few differences and you can see but, it holds the same imagery and techniques.

An idea that i had was to have thumbnails of previous Illustration/projects that I've done, that hold a link that goes straight to those specific pages. This enables a view to go straight to what they are looking for but still allows browser t have a clear look around my work.

Personally i Prefer the first design as its not too cluttered and still hold the basic links.
